So called intellectual properties (Information, software etc) are different from conventional properties. 

We live in societies under principles of equal opportunity and freedom. Software and knowledge are essential elements for the workings of such societies.  

Free sharing of knowledge and information is more productive for a larger number of people than monopolyzing it. Especially synthetive people need environment where their minds are less restricted.

It is also less selfish and more cooperative and hence more fun to work and live in societies with easier sharing of knowledge.
